Curriculum Development

The Curriculum Development Section supports the Commission's mission by developing curriculum for basic training programs. This is accomplished through research, surveys, peer review, legislative tracking, and the assembling of subject matter panels from across the state in all areas of the criminal justice field.  As required by the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative Code, this section creates curriculum for:
  • Peace Officer Basic Training
  • Peace Officer Refresher Training
  • Corrections Basic Training
  • Jailer Basic Training
  • Humane Agent Basic Training
  • Private Security Basic Training
  • Basic firearms training for court officers and public defender investigators
Curriculum Development is also responsible for the development and administration of the state certification exams required by basic training programs.
