DNA Unit

Scientists in BCI’s DNA Unit use modern forensic technology, testing 24 areas of DNA, to analyze bodily fluids and cellular material left at crime scenes. Ultimately, the forensic scientists work to identify the sources of resulting DNA profiles by comparing them with DNA obtained from known individuals, such as potential suspects, or DNA cataloged in CODIS, the FBI’s DNA database.

The DNA Unit’s work provides investigative answers in cases of homicide, sexual assault and other crimes.
