Teresa Heffernan joined the Attorney General’s Office in 2006 and currently serves as Section Counsel in Attorney General Dave Yost’s Consumer Protection Section, where she manages the legal staff caseload and handles a wide variety of cases under Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act and related Ohio and Federal consumer protection laws. Teresa’s experience in consumer protection litigation includes settlement negotiations, discovery and e-discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, trial practice, and multistate matters. Teresa’s multistate experience includes high-profile, multimillion-dollar settlements in cases related to student loans, medical devices, motor vehicles, advertising violations, and credit reporting. She also focuses on business compliance with advertising laws, especially in a direct mail and internet context and has done extensive work to ensure that motor vehicle dealerships’ advertising and business practices comply with Ohio’s consumer protection laws. Teresa is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law and has a bachelors in business administration in marketing from the University of Notre Dame.
