Melissa Smith joined the Attorney General’s Office in 2008. She previously handled various types of cases under the Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act. She now primarily focuses her legal efforts in the areas of consumer privacy and cybersecurity, specifically in multistate matters related to data breaches and other consumer data privacy issues. Melissa is credentialed through the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional in the US, considered the global gold standard for privacy professionals. Melissa also serves as the Director of Consumer Education and Outreach.
