Agency Administrator,
As you are aware, there is a continuing professional training (CPT) requirement for calendar year 2014. The October 15th email announcement is attached for your review. To assist you and your officers with fulfilling the requirement, a collection of commonly asked questions and general information has been compiled and is also attached.
With the CPT requirement including the critical subject topic of crimes against families, we’ve added an additional category to our online catalog, available at http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/Law-Enforcement/Ohio-Peace-Officer-Training-Academy/Course-Catalog.aspx. The new category, 2014 CPT Crimes Against Families Offerings, includes both traditional and online courses you may want to consider to fulfill the crimes against families requirement for yourself and your officers.
Furthermore, in the near future, we are adding four new courses to eOPOTA specifically for 2014 CPT. A three series course, Officer Survival, may be utilized for the 3 hours general law enforcement requirement. A fourth course, Crimes Against Children, may be utilized for the 1 hour critical subject requirement. Once the online courses are live, we will also provide the course lesson plans, on OHLEG, for your agency to utilize, if desired.
Happy Holidays, Mary
