On Thursday, June 24th, 2021, at 8:44PM, Columbus Police Officers were called to the Far East Recreation Center at 1826 Lattimer Dr. on a report of a shooting. On arrival, officers found 17-year-old Makenzi Ridley suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. CFD Medic 23 transported Ridley to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, where she was pronounced deceased at 9:17PM. Witnesses stated, a large group of young people had gathered near the recreation center when shots were fired and Ridley was fatally injured.
