On November 18, 1989, the Athens County Sheriff's Office received a call that an injured man was located in the restroom at the Dow Lake Dam. On arrival, deputies located a deceased male later identified as Ralph Leslie Johnson, age 60. Johnson was an employee and previous co-owner of the Athens Flower Shop located on East State Street in Athens.
