In the early hours on Monday, April 1, 1968, Patricia Ellen Cassidy, 12 years of age, was sleeping in the adjoining room to her parents, found severely beaten in her bed, passing away days later as a result of her injuries. Parents, Mrs. Ann Cassidy, 37 years of age and Mr. William Cassidy, 41, were found shot to death in their beds while they slept.
