On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at approximately 2:37am, Columbus Police officers were called to the rear of 1551 Bryden Road, on the report of a male lying in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found the male, later identified as Jamareil Tamonte Caldwell, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. CFD Medic 8 responded to the scene and pronounced Mr. Caldwell deceased at 2:45am. Investigation revealed that multiple gunshots were reported in the Fairwood Avenue area near Kent Street at approximately 2:23am, and Mr. Caldwell and an acquaintance were in that area when Mr. Caldwell was fatally struck by the gunfire. The acquaintance drove Mr. Caldwell back to the Bryden Road address where he summoned police.
