Sexual Assault Response Team: Profile of a Case Training

This one day interactive training reviews a sexual assault case scenario from first disclosure to voir dire indictment, with presentations by an advocate, law enforcement, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and prosecutor. Participants will engage in team problem-solving activities dispersed throughout the program that can be practically applied within their own community.

Training Objectives
  • Identify the benefits of assisting a victim of sexual assault from a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Understand the role of each member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • To have a better understanding of vicitms of sexual assault and how they respond to trauma
  • To identify and work through the challenges of investigating and prosecuting a sexual assault case when the suspect is known to the victim
Those Who Should Attend
Individuals or teams that want to learn how they can work together from a multi-disciplinary perspective to best engage survivors of sexual violence through a sexual assault investigation. This includes prosecutors, law enforcement, SANEs/ ED nursing staff, and others interested in better understanding the steps involved in responding to the needs of survivors.

SART: PROFILE OF A CASE IS APPROVED FOR 7.25 CEU'S FOR COUNSELORS, SOCIAL WORKERS, MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS. This course has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 7.00 total CLE (hours) instruction.
