Thank you for supporting the 2022 Protecting Older Ohioans forum. This year the webinar event, Responding to Financial Exploitation, Scams, and Fraud in Facility Settings was held on Wednesday February 23, 2022.
The program had a strong turnout as more than 300 people attended this event aimed at helping older Ohioans avoid financial exploitation, an all-too-common form of elder abuse. This year the forum focused on financial wrongdoing suspected or when it has occurred while living in a facility, such as a nursing home or an assisted living. Professional experts presented on topics that included: steps to take to protect yourself, warning signs of financial exploitation and expanded public awareness. Lastly, the program provided information on how to report financial exploitation to local and state authorities.
The forum featured Ohio Attorney Dave Yost and speakers from the following organizations:
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
- Ohio Attorney General’s Health Care Fraud Section
- Ohio Department of Aging – State Long-Term Care Ombudsman
- Ohio Department of Commence – Ohio Division of Securities
- Ohio Depart of Health
