James Wakley

James Wakley joined the Attorney General’s Office in March 2014. He currently serves as the lead counsel to the Ohio Board of Nursing, an agency with over 200,000 licensees. In that capacity, he represents the Board at administrative hearings and before Ohio Courts, and provides legal advice on the interpretation of rules and statutes. He was recently appointed as the Unit Coordinator for the Regulatory Boards Unit, to supervise Section attorneys who represent healthcare regulatory boards.

Before joining the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, James served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Delaware Attorney General’s Office for nearly 10 years, where he represented a variety of state agencies and, for seven years, practiced criminal appellate law. He has argued 25 cases before the Delaware Supreme Court.
