Attorney General DeWine Releases 2017 Economic Development Compliance Report

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today released his 2017 Report to the General Assembly on Compliance with State Awards for Economic Development. The report, which is required to be submitted by the Attorney General to the General Assembly pursuant to statute, analyzes whether companies and organizations who were awarded certain economic development incentives complied with the requirements of those state awards. Today's report reviewed recipients which had performance periods ending in calendar year 2016.

The report determined 272 awards had a performance period ending in 2016. The report found that 213 awards were in substantial compliance while 59 awards did not comply, resulting in an overall compliance rate of 78.3%. The report also listed compliance rates by award categories:
 

  • Workforce Compliance Rate: 100% (11 of 11 awards in substantial compliance)
  • Grant Compliance Rate: 89.4% (110 of 123)
  • Tax Credit Compliance Rate: 68.1% (62 of 91)
  • Loan Compliance Rate: 63.8% (30 of 47)
