The Education and Policy Section is comprised of Commission staff that supports the agency mission through basic curriculum development and student evaluation, grant administration and management, legislative tracking, and outreach initiatives.
One responsibility of the section is to develop curriculum in the Commission programs as required by the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code. These programs include peace officer basic and refresher, corrections, jailer, bailiff, probation, parole, humane agent, and private security. The development and administration of the State Certification Exams in each of the training programs also lies within this section. Furthermore, tracking of legislative issues that may impact training content and standards is performed by and disseminated from the Education and Policy Section.
