Basic Vehicle Stops Tactics
This three-day class is designed to polish traffic stop skills for the veteran patrol officer. Classroom time will be devoted to an overview of tactics and discussion of current case law and the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to common traffic stop encounters. Vehicle Stop scenarios will be performed with both actual vehicles/roll players and using firearms/driving simulators. The curriculum mirrors the basic academy program and is intended as a refresher for patrol officers, Field Training Officers and for those wishing to enhance tactical skills. This course may be taught by instructors in training and under supervision.
Equipment required: Students need to bring duty gear, firearm, duty body armor, groin and eye protection, baseball cap, frisk gloves, BDU style trousers and jacket along with clothing for foul weather possibilities. Air-Soft and or Simunition training equipment may be used.
All students must bring a current driver’s/operator’s license.
