Understanding and Working with Difficult People
Providing service often puts public employees in direct conflict with difficult people. Understanding behaviors and attitudes that are common in times of difficulty can serve to diffuse potential volatile situations. This workshop provides basic understanding of interpersonal and situational difficulties. It provides some suggested techniques and strategies for working with difficult people and resolving difficult situations. Topics include; identification of behavior types; strategies and tools for diffusing difficult behaviors; understanding the four primary interactive styles; exploration of tools and strategies for effective communications; practice and application; and Next Step/Action Plan.
