Fire and Arson Investigation
This course provides basic information on the investigation of incendiary fires. The course discusses the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) guides and standards pertaining to fire investigations. Topics include a review of the Ohio Revised Code arson sections; classifications of fires; basic origin and cause; investigative techniques such as the “Scientific Method;” and utilizing a systematic approach. This class will demonstrate and explain the collection of fire debris for evidence. This class will discuss the importance of the Team Approach to fire investigation. This course will clearly illustrate the roles, responsibilities, and relationship between local law enforcement and fire departments.
