This course prepares students to function as semi-automatic pistol instructors. Student will cover the unique aspect of the semi-automatic pistol and semi-automatic pistol shooting techniques. This is not a beginner's course and students should have a working knowledge of the semi-automatic pistol. Topics include: range management, lead and hearing issues, range safety and analysis, and correction of shooter problems. This course meets part of the OPOTC requirements for approval as an in-service Re-qualification and/or Peace Officer Basic Training Firearms Instructor.
*London courses only: Students will be required to pass a pre-course qualification test for Semi-Automatic Pistol on the first day of the course. Students who fail to pass the test after two attempts will dismissed from the course. Ammunition will be provided. Course has extended hours. *Regional course only: Students should be proficient with their firearm and related equipment. A passing score must be fired on the Pistol Qualification Course on Day 1 to remain in the course. The Pistol Operator Course is strongly recommended prior to taking this course. 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a minimum of three magazines are required. This course will be held at the Summit County Sheriff's Office Training Facility.
