Finding Words Ohio: Interviewing and Preparing Children for Court
A dynamic training opportunity, designed to enhance the participant’s ability to speak to and for abused children. Presented in collaboration with the National Protection Training Center, this 5-day course is appropriate for investigative teams of law enforcement officers, social workers, prosecutors, child protection attorneys, and forensic interviewers. Students have a chance to learn the necessary skills to conduct a competent, investigative interview of a child abuse victim using the CornerHouse forensic interview process entitled RATAC®. RATAC® has been specifically recognized and approved by a number of appellate courts. This training includes lecture and discussion, review of videotaped interviews, skill-building exercises and an interview practicum. There are nightly homework assignments and a written exam. The course is limited to 30 students, so apply early to increase your chance of enrollment.
