Cordray Alerts Ohio Parents of Crib Recall

12/17/2009

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Attorney General Richard Cordray today joins the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in alerting Ohio parents about a potentially deadly product that could be found in their homes.

According to a safety alert issued today by the CPSC, the Simplicity drop side crib manufactured by Simplicity Inc. and SFCA Inc. has been blamed for another infant death. The crib, originally recalled in December 2005, was said to have trapped a 7-month-old Kentucky infant in September 2009. As a result, the CPSC is again recalling the product.

“Parents need to be especially careful when purchasing products for their young children,” said Cordray. “While it’s absolutely critical to do your homework before making a purchase, it’s just as important to pay close attention to recalls. I strongly urge parents to sign up for regular notifications from the CPSC on recalled products.”
