Empowering Older Ohioans Forum

The Ohio Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Commission presented this free event designed to empower and protect older Ohioans:

The 2023 Empowering Older Ohioans Forum, “Responding to Elder Financial Exploitation, Scams, and Fraud” was held in Grove City on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 .

Older adults can be attractive targets for financial predators both known and unknown to them. Losing money or possessions to scams, fraud or exploitation can be especially overwhelming to older adults, who may not be able to earn back what they’ve lost. The best defense against exploitation is knowledge. This forum was designed to educate older adults, their family, and their friends about various types of scams and red flags, ways to avoid financial exploitation, and how to properly report such crimes to authorities. Be proactive, instill safety protocols, and increase your awareness of legal civil actions to protect older Ohioans.

Featured Speakers:
Teri Ruslander, Elder Services Coordinator, Grove City Division of Police
Wren Kruse, JD, Collins & Kruse Law Office
